The Leadership and Management Division of APWA-NC invites you to attend our 2023 Conference on May 17 – May 19.  This year we will enjoy the grandeur of the StateView Hotel, Autograph Collection in Raleigh, NC!  This hotel is located within walking distance of the NC State University, placing you near prime downtown shopping, dining and entertainment.  The hotel boasts free on-site parking, a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor heated pool surrounded by striking woodland scenery, and a captivating terrace featuring lounge chairs and calming views of Lake Raleigh.   

The 2023 LMD Conference will offer a great lineup of interesting and informative learning opportunities that are sure to support the needs of your leadership roles in the public works industry. While our full conference schedule and listing of session topics will be released soon, the Conference will offer up to 10 CEUs in topics ranging from engineering practice, to personnel management, to novel technology applications, to leveraging legislation to benefit communities. We also encourage you to bring your next potential leader(s) to this Conference for group mentoring, networking, and insight on current and future public works issues.

As usual, we will mix in community service and entertainment with education. A golf outing will kick off our conference on Wednesday, May 17 at Hedingham Golf Club at 11am.  Golfers of all levels are encouraged to participate for a fun day of comradery and relaxing play. Are you interested in meeting more people and finding out why we all love APWA? Come join us at the APWA NC Leadership and Management Division Conference on May 17th - 19th where interested Mentees will be specifically paired with willing Mentors.  It is our intent that this Mentorship Program will be Mentee driven.  The goal of this Program is the development of a lasting relationship between the Mentee and the Mentor that extends beyond this Conference. Just one thing though, you must be registered for the APWA-NC LMD Conference prior to signing up for the Mentorship Program. 

• Mentors - We are looking for experienced Public Works Professionals who would like to give back to our Young Professionals by a) sharing their experiences, b) providing guidance pertaining to their career in the public works industry, and c) providing guidance on maximizing their involvement with APWA. We’d welcome Public Works Professionals (active or retired) from both the public and private sectors.  If this is you, please consider signing up.
• Mentees - We are looking Young Professionals who are a) first-time attendees to the APWA-NC LMD Conference, b) new to APWA, c) just starting your career, and/or d) looking to connect with someone from the public or private sector of the public works industry, who is willing to share their experience with you.  If this is you, please consider signing up.

We will also host our first annual Public Works Education and Career Forum for invited NC Academic Professionals on Wednesday, May 17.  The Forum will be held at the Hotel.  As we seek to promote the various public works career opportunities that exist in NC to the Academic Professionals who are impacting our future generations, please see the form below to volunteer your public works expertise and to share your public works story.
