President's Message 2010
As Chapter President, my primary objective is to assure that we meet your professional goals and promote the profession of public works service. Education, training, and membership will continue to be the focus of our chapter. In these challenging economic times, it is important that we concentrate on our education and training programs so that our members will get the most from their investment. In addition, we need to continue promoting outreach and public awareness to attract new members.
All of our various committees are working very hard to provide you many opportunities to learn and grow, network with peers, and celebrate public works achievements. In spite of the economic conditions we are all facing, I believe our Chapter is as strong as ever. I ask that you continue your support for the Chapter and stay involved! The true strength of our organization is our members!
In closing, I would like to thank the Past President, Mark Combs, for his leadership and guidance last year. I would also like to thank all of those that serve on the Board and the various Committees as well. Without these dedicated people our Chapter would not be nearly as successful as we have been and, hopefully, will continue to be!
Sincerely,
Gary Smith
2010 NC Chapter President
